From Kobe, Japan to India. 3 Generations of Excellence.

How Airo Was Born?

The Problem

When I moved to Bombay, I noticed something surprising: women were wearing pearls, but most of them were poor-quality imitations, sold at prices that didn’t reflect their actual value. Many didn’t even know they were paying for something fake.Real, cultured pearls weren’t entirely unavailable, but they were heavily marked up, often positioned as luxury items reserved for weddings. There was no middle ground. No brand offering authentic pearls that felt modern, affordable, and wearable for daily wear.

The Spark

Coming from a family with four generations in the pearl trade and with roots in Kobe, Japan, I knew what real craftsmanship looked like. I also knew that women didn’t need more gold. They needed something in between: refined, meaningful jewelry they could actually wear, without needing a special occasion. That’s when I saw the gap—and the opportunity. To bring real pearls sourced from Japan to India, reimagined for the modern woman. Airo was born to make real pearls relevant again: timeless, affordable, and effortless.

The vision

That’s how Airo was born. A brand that brings real, cultured pearls from Japan to India at prices women in their 20s to 40s can say yes to. Our mission is to make authentic elegance a part of real life.Because pearls aren’t just for dressing up. They’re for showing up. For leading meetings. For running errands. For feeling like yourself.
